Our commitment
DualDay is built to be usable by everyone, including people with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities. We aim to meet the principles of WCAG 2.1 level AA as they apply to an iPhone app, and of the Israeli standard IS 5568 that is based on them.
What we have done
- An accessibility menu in the app (Settings › Accessibility): text up to three times larger, bold text, high contrast, day marks drawn as shapes and not only colours, and reduced motion.
- The app follows the iPhone's accessibility settings: text size, Bold Text, Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion, Differentiate Without Color, and Dark Mode.
- VoiceOver: every day in the calendar is read with its Gregorian and Hebrew date, its holidays and Shabbat times; buttons are labelled in Hebrew and English.
- Voice Control, Switch Control and external keyboards, as iOS provides them.
- A complete interface in right-to-left Hebrew and in English.
- A legend for every calendar mark, on the accessibility screen.
- Every screen is checked with Apple's automated accessibility audit, and by hand at the largest text size and in Dark Mode.
Known limitations
- The month grid and the hour column cap their text size, so seven day columns stay readable. The day card below the grid shows the same details at any text size.
- The screens for creating and editing an event are Apple's: they follow the iPhone's accessibility settings, but not the in-app text size.
- The Home Screen widget follows the iPhone's text settings.
Found a problem?
If anything in the app is not accessible to you, we want to hear about it and fix it. Write to Yossi Elitzur at [email protected]. It helps to mention the iPhone model, iOS version, the accessibility settings in use and the screen where it happened. We aim to reply within a week.
